The combined company enhances NRG’s status as one of North America’s premier power companies, building on its integrated business model by enabling better matching of NRG’s power generation capability with Direct Energy’s customer load in the Northeast U.S. With 76% of Direct Energy’s Home Energy customers outside of Texas, the transaction provides NRG with substantial regional diversity, broadening its presence into states and locales where it does not currently operate and supporting NRG’s objective to diversify its business outside of Texas.
